Taylor Swift
Before becoming a singer, American-born artist Taylor Swift describes herself as a songwriter. For more than a decade and most of her life she has trained with the best in the industry. At the age of 12, the Miss Americana star was writing the lyrics to the songs that made her the number one seller in the United States. Inspired by Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks, she began performing at country music festivals and events, and just like her stars dream, Swift's career began in Nashville. Her first attempts with record labels were doing covers of others like Dolly Parton, but it wasn't until Taylor performed her original songs that she got the yes that led to her success. Living in Nashville, Tenn, Tennessee, and having finished high school early, the 14-year-old Taylor Swift was one of the first talents to be signed by Big Machine Records. On October 24, 2006 Taylor Swift was released, an eponymous album containing three songs written entirely by the country singer and others co-written with collaborators. Taylor's first album climbed to number 5 on the charts in its first few days, remaining there for 157 consecutive weeks.
